New Blues CD.

Well here it is at last - "Nothing But The Blues" (we think some fans had given up all hope of ever seeing it). We are grateful for the efforts of Bill Reynold on drums and special guest Duke Robillard on acoustic guitar. Duke was one of the founders of the group "Room Full Of Blues". Duke sat in with us last year on a gig and we loved his guitar sound - reminiscent of Lonnie Johnson. Bill has substituted for Pam many times over the years and we felt it was time to use him on one of our recordings. We hope you will enjoy this latest offering.

Faulty "Mister Moon" CD.

We have discovered that our latest production batch of Mister Moon CDs are faulty. If you purchased a copy of this CD since January 2007 please return it to us, without the jewel case and inserts, and we will ship you a new disc. We apologize to any of our fans who purchased this faulty CD. The bad CD should be returned to NBEJB, 111 Caldwell Farm Roan, Byfield, MA 01922.

Recent Releases on CD.

   Remembering Wilbur DeParis:
Remembering Wilbur DeParisThis is our latest studio recording. It is a tribute to the Wilbur DeParis band of the 1950s. Our banjo player (Peter Bullis) and our bass player (Barry Bockus) were in the "Dartmouth Indian Chiefs" band that played the interval to the Wilbur DeParis band performance at Symphony Hall, Boston - a concert that was recorded and released by Atlantic Records. The project had been simmering for many years, and this release fulfills a long-time goal for Peter and Barry. The CD is now available for purchase in our on-line store.

   On The Road, Vol II:
Our previous recording, released in March 2005, and our third recording at the Hanley Castle School near Upton-on-Severn, in Worcestershire. The recording was made during our tour of the UK in May 2004.

   Higher Ground:
A collection of spirituals and gospel numbers. This is a studio recording and is felt by the band to be one of our best recordings. Numbers include "Peace in the Valley" and "Come Sunday", plus twelve other tracks.

   The Dutch Tour:
This live recording was made during our tour of the Netherlands in 2002. From time to time, over the years, we have performed with several Symphony Orchestras and we have had many requests to record some of these performances. Four of the tracks on this CD are a collaboration between the band and the "Euregio Youth Orchestra"; a wonderful, regional orchestra comprised of musicians between the ages of 15 and 25 from Holland, Belgium, and Germany. This was a wonderful and invigorating experience, and we are sure that you will enjoy these recordings, along with the other great tracks on the CD.

Samples from the above CDs are available on the Sound Clips page; full details of the recordings can be found in our Online Store.

Limited Edition Releases.

Periodically, as time and resources permit, we revisit our earlier releases on LP and Cassette and select one for remastering and reissue as a Limited Edition version on CD. In almost all the cases we are able to work from the original master tapes. Scott Kent is an expert at recovering really good quality music from older LP master tapes and we use him extensively to ensure our product quality.
We used to have our cassettes produced by The Tape Complex in Boston. They transferred all the original master tapes to digital media and have supplied CD masters to us, ensuring the highest quality for cassette reissues. Currently available are:

  • A Midsummer Night's Dream, originally recorded in 1975 (includes additional bonus tracks)
  • At The Het Congres, Breda, never before released
  • At The Mount Gretna Playhouse, originally recorded in 1982 and issued on cassette
  • At The Potomac River Jazz Club, originally recorded in 1983 and issued on cassette
  • Classic Jazz, originally recorded in 1976 and 1978 in two sessions (includes additional bonus tracks)
  • NBEJB At Symphony Hall, originally recorded in 1981
  • NBEJB In Concert, originally recorded in 1974
  • NBEJB In New Orleans, originally recorded in 1974
  • On The River, originally recorded in 1973 (includes additional bonus tracks)
  • The 1987 Treebeck Concert, a recording of a concert in Holland which was originally released as a cassette. Some of the tracks made up one side of an LP produced in Holland
  • Tommy Sancton's Black Eagle Jazz Band featuring Chester Zardis, originally issued in 1971 (Chester was one of the preminent bassists from New Orleans)
  • Tony's Mining Company, originally recorded in 1985 (includes additional bonus tracks)

See our Online Store for full details of the above releases.

Special Offer CDs.

We have found a large quantity of "Together" CDs in new condition, but without jewel cases and artwork. We are offering these for an additional $2 each with any regular-priced CD order - see our Online Store for details. The artwork is available for downloading from our Marketing/Publicity Assets page.

The "Atlanta Jazz Party" CD was recorded live at the Atlanta Jazz Party (where else !) in 1992. The fidelity is not up to our usual standard but the music is so exciting that we could not resist offering a recording of the session. The album is priced at $5 with any regular-priced CD order. Full details are also available in our Online Store.

Stomp Off CDs.

The NBEJB has reached agreement with Bob Erdos of Stomp Off Records for us to produce small quantities of no longer available Stomp Off CDs. We now have "Jersey Lightning" and will soon offer "Don't Monkey With It". A later project will be to reissue on CD our Stomp Off LPs.

New Discount Policy, plus Store Improvement.

In response to many customer requests, we are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer discounts on multiple purchases of regular-priced CDs. When you purchase two regular-priced CDs, we will apply a discount of $1 to each of the CDs. When you purchase three or more regular-priced CDs we will discount each of the CDs by $2. The more you buy, the more you save!

The improvement in our online store will allow a customer in one country to purchase merchandise for shipment to a second party in a different country. This will permit a buyer in Holland, or the UK, or Australia, for example, to purchase CDs or other merchandise and have it shipped to another party in the USA without incurring any shipping charges, since the addition of a shipping charge to an order is determined by the destination (ship-to) address, not the location of the purchaser.

Black Eagles Tunes available via the web.

Another first for the Black Eagles! Several Internet sites, including "CD Baby", "eMusic", and "iTunes", now have some of our CDs and individual tracks available for purchase/downloading. Please visit our "Downloadable Music" page for more details.

Black Eagles Videos on the Web.

Another first for the Black Eagles (or is that a "second"?). We have begun to add online videos of the band playing at various festivals - you can view them on our new "Videos" page.
"Youtube.com" is hosting additional videos from the 1988 San Diego Jazz Festival (all of the videos from this festival are courtesy of Bob Erwig). You can view them via the following links:
